Support
Something not working, or something feel off? Write to dittoapp@proton.me. A real person reads every email.
Where is Ditto?
Ditto lives inside Messages. Open any chat, tap + next to the message field, then More, then Ditto. If you don't see it, open the Ditto app once, or check Messages' app list under More.
How does a ditto work?
- Pick a prompt, or write your own.
- Add your pic. It's sealed in foil when you send it.
- Your friend adds theirs, and both pics flip at the same time.
In a group chat, the first person to answer gets paired with you, and the bubble says so.
Who can see my photo?
Only the person who answers your ditto, and only after they've added theirs. Nobody else in the chat, and nobody outside it. Photos are deleted after 7 days, or after 2 days if nobody answers. Details are in the privacy policy.
Pass, unsend, delete
- Pass: one tap on any ditto. No explanation needed, ever.
- Unsend: take a ditto back before anyone answers.
- Delete a pair: from the ••• menu on any flipped pair.
- Delete everything I've sent: in Ditto's Safety & privacy screen.
Report or block
Open the ditto, tap •••, then Report or Block. You can report a ditto even if you never answer it. A person reviews every report within 24 hours, and phones that break the community rules lose Ditto. Blocking hides that person's dittos on your phone. To stop all messages from someone, block them in Messages too.
If someone is pressuring you
You never have to send anything. Passing is always okay. If someone is pushing you to send photos, tell an adult you trust, and report the ditto.
- If a photo of you was shared and you were under 18, Take It Down can help get it removed.
- Having a hard time? Call or text 988 (US). If you're in danger, call 911.
Ages
Ditto is for ages 13 and up. Parents: Ditto has no strangers, no profiles and no public feed, and it uses Apple's on-device Communication Safety to block nude photos. Questions are welcome at dittoapp@proton.me.
